Scuba diving tragedies have focused attention on the risks of underwater inspection especially in potable water tank’s. Furthermore, ROVs offer a safe solution where contamination may be a sensitive issue, such as in potable water tanks and reservoirs. While the rationale for a three man dive team is now understood and widely mandated, many tank owners continue to look for safer and lower cost alternatives. A portable ROV system can accomplish much of the inspection work without the risks of manned vessel entry and without associated contamination risks.

While some tasks still require putting a man in the water, many others can be performed by ROVs, which offer clear advantages in terms of safety, speed and price.
